Mount Edwards_Moogerah Peaks National Park

Have you been to Moogerah Lakes yet? If you haven't, you've been missing out. This is the place that has it all! Surrounded by endless mountain ranges, you can enjoy your home away from home at the Moogerah Camp Site. You can enjoy a family BBQ under the shade by the lake, water-ski and kayaking or a just relaxing picnic on a laid-back afternoon!

Lake Moogerah

Besides all the fun, what I came here for this time is to hike Mount Edwards, which is right across the Moogerah Dam. Yes, it's Dam that is so huge, that it became a lake!

The Mount Edwards trail is a perfect little leg burner for someone whose body needs some time to pick up the pace (being me, after two weeks without hiking). It takes a person of average fitness level 1.5 hours to go up and 1 hour to come down. The total distance is about 6.5 kms return. Most of the trail is uphill without a lot of shades, so I would not recommend doing this walk in summer or without at least 1L of water.

Mount Edwards Trail

After this rocky uphill trail, there is a very nice lookouts where you can sit and breath in the view. The lookout is facing away from Moogerah Lake, so you won't be able to see it, but the view is still amazing!

Summit of Mount Edwards

After the hike, you can either enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at the Cafe nearby, or bring your own food and have a nice BBQ at the BBQ facilities right next to the lake. As the sun sets, take a short stroll along the Dam wall watching all the ducks swim home breaking the calm lake waters with its trail, while if you look on the other side, water from the Dam flows out at full blast creating a splash when it hits the rocks. Here you may be thinking to yourself: Ah, how great is this life!

Enjoy every moment being yourself! YOLOHiking!
